Logo and identity for promoting tourism in the Tula Region.
The logo is based on the deconstruction of the historical coat of arms of the Tula Region, distilling its key metaphors and reworking them into a new, more streamlined symbol.

The design is based on the French shield, a heraldic shape symbolizing protection, strength, and reliability
The hammer is a powerful symbol of craftsmanship and the art of manufacturing
The sword blades symbolizes determination, defense, and skill
The gun barrel represents defense, precision, and technological prowess
The symbol is built on a modular grid, which ensures consistency and precision across all design elements. This grid not only serves as the foundation for scalable designs but also facilitates the creation of cohesive brand elements and icons. By providing a structured layout, the grid allows for flexibility in design while maintaining a unified visual identity, making it easier to adapt the brand across various media and formats.
A short animation capturing the metaphor of creation, evolving from natural elements to complex abstractions:
fire — metal — tool — instrument (weapon) — symbol.
The Tula Region, located in Central Russia, is renowned for its rich history, vibrant cultural traditions, and long-standing weapons production. The administrative center, Tula, is famous for its iconic samovars, traditional gingerbread, and the renowned Museum of Weapons.
Beyond its cultural heritage, the Tula Region is also a significant industrial hub, particularly in metallurgy and mechanical engineering.
At the heart of the identity is the concept of creation, vividly embodied through the metaphor of fire. This symbol captures the essence of innovation and transformation, representing the spark that ignites new ideas and fuels ongoing development.
The most iconic symbols of Tula, celebrated far beyond the region, include its legendary weaponry, traditional samovars, and famous Tula pryanik (traditional sweet-baked goods). These cultural and historical elements have become synonymous with the region, embodying its rich heritage and craftsmanship, and making Tula a distinctive name across Russia and beyond.
Behind the region’s most famous symbols is a much richer and more diverse set of elements that make up the true foundation of its identity. These often overlooked aspects help shape the unique character and cultural depth of the region, reaching beyond its most well-known icons.
At the core of each is a fundamental process, guided by human hands and fueled by fire — the process of creation.
The color system of the identity enhances the overall concept, which is built upon the metaphor of fire.
The elements of the identity are based on three main form-forming signs.
This simple basis allows the construction of more complex elements and structures for different contexts, helps to solve various specific and non-specific problems.
One way to use this base and grid is to create a decorative cyrillic font. In this case, the font solves the task of visually uniting a large number of towns that make up the Tula Region by emphasizing the capital letter.
